1993 Honda Civic - SID

I have a 93 Honda Civic ex coupe. I want to possibly black it out and put a performance chip in. My friends are telling me to turbo it, but the down side is that it is automatic. Im not sure if that will be the same as manual or have a diffrent outcome.
